The Authentic, The Unfortunate, and The Unsightly Vol. 2
As we shared in the first edition, we are here to share all ย aspects of our adventures.
We are real people not trying to glam things up when we share here on the blog. If we were hosting a fashion blog, we would be showcasing perfect hair and makeup while sporting trendsetting wardrobes. If we were hosting a home decorating blog, we would share pictures of our magazine layout worthy homes. But that’s not who we are.
We are sharing those big and small – those Lagom Adventures- and a few of our thoughts along the way. They aren’t staged or prepped or glamorous at times. ย Sometimes we roll out of bed fifteen minutes before we are suppose to leave to meet up. Sometimes we do clean up and have a nice dinner out evening but we are still pretty normal when it comes to that.
And it when it comes to photographing or documenting those adventures, we end up with real life photos – authentic, unfortunate, and unsightly photos or outtakes. As my friend Gina would say WYSIWYG -What You See Is What You Get – photos.
Now we may take a few just to get one that is reasonably decent enough to share but being the down-to-earth, authentic, and honest girls that we are, we have decided to occasionally share a few of the other photos.
Who doesn’t enjoy a well meant chuckle at the expense of their friends?
- ย I’m pretty sure that in every edition of The Authentic ย we do that I will have a picture of me trying to take the selfie or groupie or whatever you want to call it. ย Once again I’m squinting trying to see what the screen looks like. (Be forewarned Crystal – I have one of you that I will use in the next edition.)
2. ย I am usually the photographer on our adventures. But when Katie decides to hike alone, she has to take her own selfies. ย And it appears that she suffers from the sun-is-in-my-eyes-I’m-trying-to squint-to-see-what-this-looks-like face that I to suffer from on a regular basis. I’m sure Patagonia will want to use this in future hat ads.
3. ย This is from a different hike but I am pretty sure that this is what Katie looked like in the above selfie. ย That is a power selfie stance if I have ever seen one. ย A good sturdy base with the legs planted an appropriate distance apart. She is using two hands to ensure a safe click of the button. ย She is not too close to the edge that she may stumble and fall of the edge to her death. ย If ever out hiking and taking pictures, I would recommend this form – The Katie Power Stance. ย I think her Crossfit training may have influenced this form.
4. ย As I stated above I am usually the one behind the camera, but occasionally Katie snaps a few. ย And when she does this is what I look like. ย This was the day of the eclipse. ย We had just hiked up Hughes Mountain and I needed some shade, so I found one of the few available spots in the shadow of one of the few trees. ย It appears I am practicing eclipse safety by not staring directly at the sun or even looking at Katie. ย I knew she was taking the picture because I have my head tilted at the take-my-picture-even-though-I-hate-it angle. ย I was also sporting my “oh so trendy” Ford truck grandpa hat that I snagged from Aaron’s stash because I couldn’t find any of mine. ย Apparently Katie thought this looked okay because she didn’t take any more. LOL
5. And if I am going to include pictures of me plopped down after a hike then my mom is fair game too. ย She has gone hiking with me once on what ended up being a bit of an overgrown path. ย For someone who camps (glamps) weeks at a time, she was very concerned about the outdoors that were surrounding her. ย She survived, but she and my sister found a seat while Layne fished for a bit. Doesn’t she look like a happy camper?
And there you have it – us in real life.
